'The Periwinkle Perspective'
A Steampunk Hexalogy, a fabulous romp though Victoriana!
Roll up, roll up as Paul Eccentric, author of the The Periwinkle Perspective, reads you some slightly naughty and hilarious stories, a gateway into the surreal world of Steampunk Victoriana.
Paul Eccentric is a published author, songwriter, poet and playwright. He is probably best known as the mouthy half of poetry duo ‘The Antipoet’: the beatrantin’ rhythm ’n' views act that currently takes up most of his time, performing at festivals across the country including Glastonbury, The Edinburgh Fringe etc.
His passions include The BARDAID Initiative (of which he is the founder), restoring old telephone boxes and turning them into community libraries, Doctor Who, vegetable growing, punk rock, animals, the countryside and his wife, Donna.
Passionate about steampunk, Paul has recently published the 5th book in The Periwinkle Perspective series, The Brotherhood of Man. It is recommended that his books should ideally be read either wearing corsetry or whilst riding a Penny farthing! Adventure Forth!
Delivered in Paul's inimitable style, he will be reading stories from his book. His show will be hilarious from start to finish.
Latest reviews for The Periwinkle Perspective:
“These books are joyful, rollicking and riotous romps through familiar yet fondly reimagined SF territory as seen through the kaleidoscopic prism of a deft steampunk narrative. Breathlessly told, the characters hurtle through the stories which are enriched with all the detail that fans of Victorian expression, fashion, architecture and machinery crave from the depths of their darkly-goggled souls.”

“Bravo, Paul Eccentric on this barnstorming thrill-ride of a book! The Periwinkle Perspective has been my gateway read into the surreal world of Steampunk Victoriana: clever, witty and satisfyingly literate. The story is chock full of hearty, bluff Englishmen, conniving government officials, siblings willing to take their rivalry to its deadly conclusion, females of the species who prove more clever and murderous than the male, and even real life personages in the form of Thomas Edison and Jack the Ripper make an appearance. The novel is alive in the nineteenth century, here and in the future when springs from the brilliant mind of Paul Eccentric!”
Jessica Martin: Actor, artist and author (Doctor Who, Spitting Image, Spamalot)
“Mr Eccentric throws words around like Jackson Pollock threw paint. Like Michelangelo was with paint Mr Eccentric is with words, a master of both darkness and the light and while I wouldn’t let this man paint my downstairs toilet, I do love his books.”
