WE ARE VERY SAD TO ANNOUNCE THAT THE WAVERLEY PADDLE STEAMER WILL NOT BE VISITING RYDE PIER ON SATURDAY.
There is an issue at the pier, and Waverley Excursions has been told there is no berth available so she can't dock. Waverley will still cruise around the Island, so you may still be able to spot her leave Portsmouth and make her way along The Solent. There is no guarantee which direction she will travel - clockwise or anti-clockwise - as this is tide dependent.
Waverley is the world's last remaining seagoing paddle-steamer. Built in 1946, she has undergone extensive restoration over the last 50 years, and visits ports around the UK each year.
Whilst you can't go on onboard, this is a rare chance to see this visiting icon of the sea from the end of Ryde Pier. So don't forget your cameras!
Waverley is due to depart Portsmouth at 11.30am, and return to Portsmouth at 7.40pm. It's difficult to judge what time she can be seen.
