Named after Princess Victoria, shortly before she became queen, Ryde’s Royal Victoria Arcade was built between 1835 and 1836. Having become derelict in the 1970s, it was restored back to its former glory in 2011.
The Royal Victoria Arcade is, quite simply, one of the Isle of Wight’s hidden gems just waiting to be discovered!
Inside, with its lofty glass ceiling and stained glass rotunda, the arcade has 14 interesting independent shops scattered throughout the Victoriana Lanes. You’ll delight in the discovery of retro fashions, vinyl music, collectables and memorabilia, textile crafts and gifts galore. There is a museum in the former underground market, originally built as an ice house.
Today the Arcade is a Grade II Listed building.
Fun finger puppets and glove puppets for children and babies, depicting wild animals, well known characters and mythical creatures, but also some seasonal designs. All puppets are machine washable and suitable for children from birth as they have embroidered eyes.
